Original recording of the song Shambala of Zulu House Club Vol 1

Author: Frank Lucianovich, 14 October 2008

To Dr. Victor Dear sir I have been trying to get a copy of your original release of the Shambala song done on the Zulu House Club Volume One which was originally released through Sterns music. Catalogue # 67012-2. I know you did a remix in 2002 however we use the song at our school and it is the original one that all our students love!! I can't explain it except to say that there is no substitute for greatness! Your first release of this song is wanted in a big way here! Could you tell me how I could obtain about 300 copies of it! I am quite serious with respect to the numbers That number could be quite short even however to date I have not been able to obtain any through Sterns. You can reach me at 1(780)903-1067 this is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada> Respectfully Frank Lucianovich.

Crowd goes wild, Wow!

Author: K-Day gals, 16 February 2009

We have been attending all their shows in Cape Town, and wow!, we are mesmerised by Dr Vic and the Rasta Rebels each and every time. They sound great, they look great, their performance is impeccable at all times. You know we love saying 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the cd'. But in this case we've 'been there' and continue to go back over and over again to see Dr Vic and the Rasta Rebels. The crowd goes wild, young and old, whenever they are performing and they don't seem to have a pre-arranged set, they follow the crowd, and successfully so. They definitely rock! PLEASE is no there no way to get a listing of your future shows in Cape Town, PLEASE, we miss you guys, and it's your fault because you spoilt us with many perfomances in 2008.

Author: Iris Smith, 9 July 2009

My condolences goes to Dr Victor & family and the Rasta Rebels for the passing of Dr Victor's brother who was the bass guitarist of the Rasta Rebels, he will be dearly missed.

To a dear friend, David, You are missed!!

Author: Pauline (or as you called me Paula), 11 July 2009

It is so difficult to think of you not being there on the stage with Victor and the band...giving your gentle shy smile and a wink whenever you saw me on the dance floor but i know that you smiling down on us from heaven. You remain in our hearts and memories forever. Your passing away was a wonderful reunion too of the CC Beat band...seeing Stevie and Melvyn again!! My prayers are now for your family and for Victor & the band. Rest in peace my dear friend!!

Author: jaan, 18 July 2009

to victor and the band: so sorry for your loss! can anybody tell me when victors brother joined the band? i used to follow the band in the 90's but have not seen them for many years. is george x still in the band? the last i heard he had left. can someone tell me the members that r now in the band? thanks.

Response to Jaan

Author: Charmaine (Kimberley), 28 July 2009

Hi, the guy that passed away is not Dr Victor's brother. It was a close friend; they basically grew up together, played together, went to school together, started the band together (the young ones, etc. Other band memebers are Melvin on drums, Jerry on key board, Guss on trumpet, Kenny on vocals and Perus on percussions. I am a true follower of the band and always attend their shows in Kimberley. You can also find every CD made by this band in my collection, even Kalimba's CD. Great work Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels; we will all miss Davie!!

thanks

Hi, yes David will truly be missed, the memorial service and the funeral was really a great tribute to a great musician. well done to those involved in the organisation of it all. It was great seeing you guys again! We are revving it up for the next gig in the Republic of Cape Town.

Author: Charmaine & Hennie (Kimberley), 20 September 2009

We drove from Kimberley to Sandton on 19 September 2009 to see Dr Victor & the Rasta Rebels in action at the Blues Room; it was all worth while of cause. We enjoyed every second in this bands company. Dr Victor was showing us what he can do; moves, vocals, etc.... very versatile indeed. I also met one of the bloggers in the Blues Room; Pauline it is nice to put a face to the name. I won't mind to visit the Blues room again. I wish Anthony, the new base guitarist all the best. You will be great. Dr Victor and band keep up the excellent work in keeping our feet moving to your beat. I must add that I truly think that the home crowd is the best (in Kimberley), please come visit us at Club Destiny soon!!!!!!!!!!

Goodness me!

Author: Charmaine (Kimberley), 8 February 2010

I saw them again live on stage on the 06th of February 2010!It seems like the Dr's energy ramains at a very high level. Loved the new songs (Afrikaans medley) and the energy that goes with it. One can always be sure that you will receive more than value for your money at their performances. This band is funky and keeps up with new developments in the music industry and that is what makes them so succesful and popular. Keep it up guys you are doing great!

Author: cyce, 20 February 2010

Dr victor the best and the very best performer on stage with the reggae melody......keep it up !!

same old sam old

Author: anon, 5 March 2010

Dr Victor's repertoise has now become so boring!!!!! All the years I've seen him nothing has basically changed. The guy plays the same music year in and year out. I think its time he works on a new repertoire and new image. Bridget the lady that sang with him brought a real vibe to the band. She has boosted Dr Victor bigtime, she has true talent vocally. I still question Dr Victors talent vocally, I don't think he can sing. I think Dr Victor should throw in the towel now,,, it's time for some fresh talent. BTW where is Bridget I wish she can start her own thing..........this lady has really got what it takes vocally. I think she has the best femaole voice in this country.

response to comments on the 8 March 2010

Author: anon, 9 March 2010

Firstly I don't think you know much about singing my friend. Secondly let me remind you once again "Its so good" is Teddy Pendergrass song so it clearly shows your knowledge about music. Dr Victor's is a copy cat, no originality whatsoever, I'd personally not purchase his cd, like I said I would rather buy an original Eddy Grant cd for e.g if I wanted to listen to Hope Johanna or Bob Marley. Dr Victor should start moving with the times, the music he does is kind of old fashion. I suppose that is why he has to stick to Corporate Gigs and niteclubs. Let me remind you once again, the music he does is not his music, it BELONGS TO ARTISTS WHO PUT ALL THEIR TIME AND EFFORT IN TO IT. True Legends are guys like Michael Jackson, Bob Marley Elvis Presley ect get your ducks in a row my friend. I think you have a lot to learn about musicianship and recognising true vocal ability .....

Author: Quack Quack is spot on, 11 March 2010

I agree with quack quack fully Your knowledge on music is very limited. You are typical stereotype in your thinking. Name 1 original song on Dr Victor's CD. I agree with anon comments about Dr Victor's vocal ability, the guy is not a good singer, people simply enjoy the music bcos everthing is computerised.Just for the record TRUE LEGENDS have a Global impact and sell millions of orginal units. They are trend setters. Let me stress most of his songs are not his own. I doubt your knowledge about music, please check the music archhives, most songs he does is COVERS.

A true FAN

Author: Charmaine (Kimberley), 15 March 2010

First of all if you have something negative to say about the Dr then it means that you are not a true fan. I cannot agree more with the previous writer, what are you doing on the blog if you are not a real fan. The real fans are the ones who enjoy the performances and music of Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels. I can name you quite a number of his original work but that is information that only the true fans would know and can appreciate. I don't care what you say about Dr Victor, he still rocks and his diary is always full; so if the world didnt appreciate him why are they so in demand locally and internationally????? Please leave the Big Brother House!!!!!!

Fan for 25 years and forever!!

Author: Pauline, 15 March 2010

I agree with Charmaine..quack quack and author 11 March who are obviously too ashamed to give their identities...you must both get off this page ...as you are certainly not fans. We don't want to be associated with the likes of you!! I suggest you get your facts in order as either of you do not know the man or the musician and his roots. He would not have survived this long in the music industry if he was not a good singer. Have either of you heard him sing without any musical instruments to know that he has the most beautiful sexy voice. Just to listen to him playing the guitar and the keyboards is music to the ear. So what if he sings cover versions...he sings them better than the originals anyway because he is not on a high from alcohol or drugs. Furthermore he is superb role model for young musicians and the youth as he has never done drugs or alchol...now thats a legend and a leader!! Where is Bridget indeed...if she were that good? I listened to her a month ago at Katzy's and she has certainly lost it...she does have a good voice and it stops there...she lacks self confidence on the stage and was actually a liability to the band...so i so glad to see that she is no longer with them. The band led by Dr Victor are awesome..hence the reason their calendar is so fully booked!! Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels you rock my world!!

Author: Music Teacher, 16 March 2010

Pauline let me remind you I am a music teacher by trade. I can see that you are quite uneducated as far as music is concerned. The only reason you enjoy the music, is becos the guy plays songs you guys enjoy. I on the other hand knows what good singing is. The lady that sang in his band is a true vocalist, with her standards she should be overseas, all she needs is one big break. As far as self confidence goes, the band is Dr Victor's and not hers, so I can understand why she is quiet.I sense a bit of jealousy on your part for the Lady. I personally think she is a DIVA. She just needs the recognition, thats all. How on earth can someone do an original song better than the creator of the song. All I can say my dear is shame, there is a saying, one should not cast your pearls before swine. Hope you will remove the blinkers from your eyes, and stop been so narrow minded. As far as been a role leader, I think he is very selfish as a muso, who has he helped musically ?

On the Contrary Music Teacher...

Author: Pauline, 16 March 2010

Just because you are a music teacher does not make you right and frankly you just sound like a bitter person. Furthermore i am not jealous of Bridgitte...i actually like her very much and do know that she has a good voice. We are friends and i have even spoken to her and given her encouragement at Katzys and Rustic theatre before the shows because she was so nervous...now it is not the first time she is appearing on stage ...but she has no stage appeal!! If she is a DIVA what happened to her career!! Now it sounds like to me that you are the one jealous of Dr Victor ...anyway there is no need to justify his career to you as the record companies and all his fans know better! I suggest you do your homework on the man before you judge him because clearly you are CLUELESS!!

Appreciate good entertainment

Author: Rahmann, 16 March 2010

No need to fight anyone is entitled to thier own opinion i think Dr Vic does what is reqiured from the venues or clubs that he performs in. He is not there to get a grammy or any kind of an awards they simply entertain the people and did you know he's recorded and produced a jazz album also he produced Dawnay, Denim and others across South Africa. To be still entertaining and making a living after a career that's been going for over 27 years is not easy They are the most booked band in the festival and corporate market both here and abroad. Did you know all the greats like Micheal Buble, UB 40, George Benson and Luther Vandros also do not sing their own songs all the time but we still love their music. If Bridget is so great than maybe she should show South Africa and the world what she has to offer You need more than talent alone to survive what we need is descipline and professionalism About singing.... i do not think Madona is a great singer but she is the world's biggest female entertainer People support loyalty and nothing else! Have a nice day- Rahmann

I think everbody on this Blog should Repent and give their Hearts to THE ULTIMATE KING JESUS. He alone deserves all the Praises and Glory. He is the ALPHA and the OMEGA. When all is said and done eaach one will have to stand before the GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT and give an account of what they did for KING JESUS. Let me remind Pauline that our KIDS need role models like DR JESUS and not dr Victor, JESUS alone is the GREAT PHYSICIAN, HE is THE BALM IN GILEAD. Narrow is the road that leads to Everlasting life in which few will enter and Broad is the way that leads to destruction, which many will enter. To GOD BE THE GLORY The Bible says every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD. IF I HAD A THOUSAND TONGUES I"D PRAISE HIM WITH ALL THOUSAND TONGUES. THE HANDWRITING IS ON THE WALL FOR THE WORLD. People should be uplifting the NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME, THE LORD LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Dr. Victor just showed that Kimberley are truely the diamond capital of the world, as you don`t get a diamond anywhere but right here in kimberley. Through hard work and perseverance my brother made it to the biggest stages in the world, but still remain humble which is an exellent charactaristice of him. Track from Dr Vic

Author: Kinkay Nyawana, 21 July 2010

Charmaine, seems like you know Dr Victor and his band in and out. I was wondering if you can help me out with this little problem. There is a song which was played a lot on Big Brother Africa Season 1. I suspect it's from Dr Victor but i don't know the title. I only managed to grasp the tune and just one word which is" kwase-kwanjo" . I know this sounds silly but i really can't get that tune off my head! Can you help!!

LOOKING FOR OLD FRIENDS

Author: Thando, 11 November 2010

I fell in love with Dr Vic's music while i was in Namibia in the 90s. I never missed any of the group's shows whenever they performed in Namibia. I had friends Jaco and Skhumbuzo and was wondering whether they are still with the band and if not, where are they now. Keep it up guys!!!!
